Midlands furniture retailer pleads guilty to fire regs breach
The boss of a furniture retailer in the corridor between Derby and Nottingham has been handed a community service order and told to pay costs after his firm breached the UK fire safety regulations.
Xiao Fei Cheng pleaded guilty to charges related to non-compliant upholstery on dining room chairs at his firm, Harreds International, which trades as the Solid Oak Warehouse, through its Ilkeston showroom and via the Internet.
He will over 12 months carry out 150 hours of community service, and pay the best part of £6,000 in legal costs.
