B&B couple ordered to pay nearly £4,000 for blocking fire safety inspectors
The owners of a bed and breakfast in Gloucestershire have been fined for blocking fire safety inspectors from doing their jobs.
Richard and Lesley Williams-Allen, the husband and wife owners of The Laurels bed and breakfast in Inchbrook, were ordered to pay a total of £3,930 on Monday (May 16th).
Cheltenham Magistrates Court heard that the couple refused to provide information about their premises and repeatedly refused to co-operate with Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
Tally Giampa, head of fire safety enforcement and risk at Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, told the news provider that most people in these roles adhere to the law.
“It is very unusual for us to be forced into this course of action as the vast majority of owners of commercial premises understand how important it is that their properties are inspected to ensure they comply with fire safety laws,” he said
